The paint brush is used for freehand painting of strokes with various shapes, widths, and colors, depending on what brush shape you have selected.
To use the paint brush, position the cursor on the Canvas and press down on the mouse button. Drag the mouse to draw, and release the mouse button to stop.
Double click on the paint brush icon to produce the brush shape dialog box and click on the desired brush shape to select it. You can create a new brush shape by editing the black and white 16 by 16 pixel square at the top of the dialog box. Click on white pixels to make than black, and vice versa. When you use the paint brush, all the black pixels will be the color you have selected for the paint brush, while all the pixels you leave white will be the background color.
You may also use and create multi-colored paint brushes, using any of the colors in your palette. First click on the Color Brush button on the brush shapes dialog box. As with black and white brushes, select an existing shape or create your own by editing the magnified brush at the top of the dialog box. Use the crayon to add pixels of any color chosen from your palette and use the eraser tool to remove colored pixels from your brush.
If you have created new black and white or colored paint brushes, you can save them with the Save Brush Set command on the File menu. Similarly, you can open a previously saved brush set with the Load Brush Set command, also on the File menu.
